I've release SSH Lockout 0.3.1 today. I quietly released 0.3.0 a few days ago but just discovered a few bugs in it that warrant a new release. I sorta figured that would be the case and that's why I didn't announce it.
New in this release are whitelists, a user configurable iptables system call, and blacklist purging. The program also now runs tainted just in case somebody gets a funny idea.

Hi,
just installed and testing, thought I would do you the courtesy to mention that the whitelist needs to be separated by spaces (I was silly and tried commas, didn't work!)
Thanks for a great idea!
Can I suggest another related idea? ... I can.. good!
If I bar all bots from a sub-directory, using robots.txt, is there a way of incorporating your iptables update routine to ban those nasty bots that ignore that ban and go there to steal email addresses etc?
Just an idea!
